Signs of Spring and Summer
The Dogwoods, Cherry Trees and Azaleas are in bloom, the yellow curse of Pine Pollen is covering everything. The daily dose of Allergy Meds is keeping me from scratching my eyes. It must be Spring!!!
The return of warm weather demands the return of cool refreshing foods and summertime salads.
Today, it brings on the Key Lime Pie. Every time I make this pie I am reminded of two People ...... My friend Halle in Iowa and my friend Fran from church. Both think this one is one of the best.
What could be better than the chilled citrus flavor of Key Lime with the sweetness of homemade Whipped Cream! This is so easy to make and it always seems to go too fast.
Childhood Memories
Mama Maria's Old Clothes
This is Mama Maria's Old Clothes and they are spectacular.
Ropa Vieja (translation Old Clothes) is one of the best Cuban dishes I know outside of the deserts like Flan, Tres Leches Cake and Natilla. It is the first Cuban Main Course I ever made and it is now one of my favorite foods.
Julia and Jacque Save the Day
I was flipping through the channels the other day and ran across Cooking with Jacque and Julia and they were doing an entire episode on Pork. Being one of my favorite foods and always on the lookout for a new way to prepare tenderloin, I felt compelled to watch.
This was the first that caught my eye and I was determined to see if I could replicate what Jacque Pepin had created.
